Plays have characters and The Diviners is no exception. Performers and audience members should have an understanding of how a character is developed. What are the pieces to the puzzle that help us to perform or just sit back and enjoy the work of a vested performer? Join us on this eBook adventure as we explore Diviners Characters.

Standards For theater arts & Language Arts
The process of creating a character is the foundation of human development and interaction. – Colorado Standards for 9-12 Education
1. Character Development in Improvised and Scripted Works – c., d., e., & f.
a. Evidence Outcomes:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.9-10.3
Analyze how complex characters (e.g., those with multiple or conflicting motivations) develop over the course of a text, interact with other characters, and advance the plot or develop the theme.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.11-12.1
Cite strong and thorough textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text, including determining where the text leaves matters uncertain.
1. Character Development in Improvised and Scripted Works – c., d., e., & f.
a. Evidence Outcomes:
- (c) Demonstrate fundamental motivation knowledge, and employ several strategies to discover what the character wants (DOK 2-3)
- (d) Demonstrate several ways to overcome the character’s obstacle DOK 2-3)
- (e) Identify and employ numerous tactics to get what the character wants (DOK 1-3)
- (f) Connect internal and external work to fully realize the character (DOK 2-4)
